The art painting baron

In 2017, the artist Arild Rosenkrantz's former apartment and studio at the castle was converted into a gallery where a different themed exhibition is shown each year. It is now possible to book a guided tour of the collection.

Arild Rosenkrantz lived and worked as a painter at the castle from 1940 to 1962. He was classically trained in Rome and Paris, and the collection at Rosenholm includes early symbolist works, book illustrations, including Edgar Allan Poe's "Mysterious Tales", a large number of preparatory works for church windows in England and, in recent years, works inspired by Rudolf Steiner and Goethe's colour theory.

There is currently international interest in Arild, who in 2017 was featured in the Guggenheim exhibition "Mystical Symbolism" in both New York and Venice. Now he is back with a painting in the exhibition, "Art and Magic", from 29 September 2018 to 27 January 2019 at Palazzo Roverella in Rovigo, Northern Italy.
